The National Lacrosse League has announced the fourth-annual Junior NLL Tournament, a weekend-long competition featuring youth clubs representing NLL teams across North America, will return to Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, Ontario from Friday, Aug. 26 to Sunday, Aug. 28.

“We’re proud to continue our grassroots partnership with the Toronto Rock and building upon the momentum of the Jr. NLL Tournament for the fourth-straight year,” said NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz. “Increasing box lacrosse participation at the grassroots level across North America is one of our five key development strategies to grow the National Lacrosse League.”

The Buffalo Bandits, Colorado Mammoth, Georgia Swarm, New England Black Wolves, Rochester Knighthawks, Saskatchewan Rush, Toronto Rock and Vancouver Stealth, along with Jr. Edmonton and Jr. Philadelphia clubs, will compete with over 400 players participating across Peewee, Bantam & Midget age levels. The teams will follow modified NLL playing rules in a safe and competitive environment. NLL players, coaches and staff will be on-hand all weekend, with some serving as Jr. NLL coaches, in addition to joining the youth players for a skills competition and ceremony on Friday night.

“The Jr. NLL Tournament gets bigger and better every year,” said Rock Owner, President & General Manager Jamie Dawick. “The competition level across the board has come a long way and it’s exciting to watch how much all the teams have improved each year. I’m excited about what we have planned for this year.”

Fans will be able to watch select games from the tournament live online at jvisportsnetwork.com, courtesy of JVI Video Production, plus follow scores and stats powered by Pointstreak. Krossover, the leading sports film analysis and statistics company, continues to partner with the NLL and will serve as a sponsor for the event. More information including a full broadcast schedule will be released prior to the tournament.

The Toronto Rock Athletic Centre, which features two lacrosse rinks along with the Rock’s offices and training facilities, has continued to host numerous league events over the past four years including the NLL Draft, Combine and Season Awards Ceremony, along with preseason games. The state-of-the-art TRAC is regarded as one of the premier indoor lacrosse facilities in North America and remains as a box lacrosse hub for players of all ages and skill levels.
