Two more Boardworks divers finished the 2015 season with national championship titles after Aidan Faminoff and Ryan Grover won gold at the Speedo Junior Elite National Diving Championships this past weekend in Edmonton.  This is the fourth national championship title won by Boardworks divers this season after Carson Paul won gold in the Boys 11 & under 3 metre event at the Speedo Junior Development Nationals in Quebec City earlier this month and Celina Toth won her first national championship title in her home pool at the Summer Senior National Championships at the beginning of June in Victoria.

Faminoff, 17, a former Junior National champion, easily won the Boys 16-18 platform event after nailing his final dive, an inward 3 1/2 somersaults, scoring 7.5’s and 8’s from the judges.  Faminoff finished with a score of 519.50 earning him a berth on Canada’s National team competing at the Pan Am Junior Championships in Matanzas, Cuba in October.

Boardworks Ryan Grover, also earned a spot to Cuba after winning the Boys 16-18 1-metre event.  Grover, 17, who won a surprise silver medal at the Summer Senior National Championships in May, convincingly won gold in Edmonton finishing 34 points ahead of silver medallist Peter Thach Mai of Montreal.

Faminoff and Grover will also compete in the Boys synchronized 3 metre event at the Pan Am Junior Championships and will be joined there by 10-year old Carson Paul who will be competing in the Boys 11 & under 1-metre, 3-metre and platform events.

Other Boardworks results include Bryden Hattie, who placed 5th on the Boys 14-15 1-metre, 10th on 3-metre and 4th on platform.  Tanesha Lucoe had a career best finish placing 10th in the Girls 14-15 1-metre event and first time national competitor Coral Strugnell placed 11th in the Girls 16-18 1-metre event.
