NCAA Basketball comes to UBC – Free Admission for basketball fans


Three NCAA Division One basketball programs will descend upon UBC’s War Memorial Gym this week and basketball fans will have free admission for all the action. Basketball fans will have the opportunity to see 2016-17 versions of both the Thunderbird men’s and women’s squads as they take on high powered teams from south of the border.

UBC Women’s Basketball vs. Florida Atlantic Owls


Thursday, August 11th -7 PM

UBC Men’s Basketball vs. Charlotte 49ers


“I’m familiar with Vancouver from my time as player when they had the Grizzlies,” says Charlotte Head Coach and four-time NBA All-Star Mark Price. “It’s an absolutely beautiful city and will be a great experience for our players to get to see it and play some basketball against good competition.”


“It’s always interesting to see how our team and our program stack up against some really good NCAA programs,” says UBC Women’s Head Coach Deb Huband. “It should be a really tough test for us as we prepare for the upcoming season.”


“I think basketball fans will be in for a treat. Both teams are fast and athletic and being that it’s still August the team’s offensive games will be at a higher level than their defense,” says UBC Men’s Head Coach Kevin Hanson. “I expect a high-tempo battle between two good teams.”
