The University of Saskatchewan Huskie men’s basketball program is proud to announce local high school players Addison Dewar and Emmanuel Akintunde as the newest additions to the program.
Both Saskatoon products have made their commitment to play with the Huskies beginning in the 2016-17 season. Dewar is a 6-3 guard from Marion Graham Collegiate, while the 6-1 guard, Akintunde, played with St. Joseph High School.
“We are pleased to be able to add two talented local athletes to our program for the 2016-17 season,” said Huskie head coach Barry Rawlyk. “Homegrown talent has traditionally been the foundation of our program, and we hope it will continue to be for years to come. Both Addison and Emmanuel bring loads of potential to the program and we are confident they will develop into very good CIS level players.”
Akintunde was a member of U16 Team Saskatchewan in both 2014 and 2015, as well as the U17 team in 2016. Dewar was named the MVP of the High School All-Star Game in 2016.
The Huskies open training camp in early September.
