T-Birds Announce 2016-17 Training Camp Schedule

KENT, August 16, 2016The Seattle Thunderbirds are excited to announce their Training Camp schedule for the 2016-17 season.
T-Birds Training Camp opens on Wednesday, August 24, with four scrimmages. The four scrimmages will be between four teams made up of players born in 2000 and 2001. In the morning Team Blue plays Team Grey at 9:00am and Team White plays Team Green at 10:45am. In the evening Team Blue plays Team White at 4:30pm and Team Grey plays Team Green at 6:15pm.
Training Camp continues on Thursday, August 25, with four scrimmages between the four teams of 2000 and 2001 born players. The scrimmages will be at 9:00am, 10:45am, 4:30pm and 6:15pm.
The scrimmages on August 24a nd August 25 will be two 30-minute run time periods with a shootout if necessary. The team time slots for the last two scrimmages on August 25 will be determined based on previous scrimmage wins and losses.
The scrimmages on Friday, August 26, Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28 will have three teams playing, Team Blue, Team White and Team Grey. All scrimmages on these days will consist of a 15-minute warmup and a 30-minute game.
On August 26 all three teams will play two 30-minute scrimmages, the first of which starts at 3:00pm and last one starts at 5:00pm at ShoWare Center.
On Saturday, August 27, there will be two scrimmage sessions with the three teams. The first round of scrimmage sessions will begin at 9:00amand the second round of scrimmage sessions stars at 4:30pm.
Sunday, August 28, will be the last day where all three teams will be facing each other. The scrimmages will be at 3:00pm, 4:00pm, and 5:00pm.
Monday, August 29, is the last day of Training Camp and will feature a full 60-minute three period game. The teams will be wearing T-Birds white and blue game jerseys, unlike previous scrimmages which will feature team branded practice jerseys. The game starts at 5:30pm at ShoWare Center.
All Training Camp scrimmages and the Blue White game are open to the public free of charge. Fans attending any of the scrimmages or Blue White game should enter ShoWare Center from the east side of the building.
The Thunderbirds will play seven exhibition games prior to the start of the 2016-2017 regular season.
To start the preseason, the T-Birds will play in the Everett Silvertips Holiday Inn Preseason Classic at Xfinity Arena. The first game will be Friday, September 2, at 7:00pm against the Everett Silvertips. Classic play will continue with games on Saturday, September 3, at 3:00pm against the Tri-City Americans. The Classic concludes Sunday, September 4, at 11:30amagainst the Spokane Chiefs.
The T-Birds next preseason appearance will be in Kennewick at the Red Lion Hotels’ Preseason Tournament at the Toyota Center. The T-Birds will play the Kootenay Ice on Friday, September 9, at 3:00pm and face the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, September 10, at 7:05pm
The T-Birds will conclude their preseason schedule with a home-and-home series against the Silvertips. The T-Birds host the Silvertips on Friday, September 16, at 7:35pm at ShoWare Center and then are in Everett onSaturday, September 17 at 7:05pm.
The T-Birds open the 2016-17 season in Portland against the Winterhawks on Saturday, September 24, at 7:00pm.
The T-Birds home opener for the 2016-17 season is Saturday, October 1, against the Portland Winterhawks at 7:05pm at ShoWare Center.
