21-year-old right back is eligible to play this Sunday in Langley


VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Sunday that Chilean right back Christopher Diaz has been added to the club’s Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) roster in the United Soccer League (USL). Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 21-year-old joins the ‘Caps after most recently spending four years with Chilean Primera B side Curicó Unido, making 56 appearances and scoring two goals.

On the international level, Diaz has previously been called up to Chile’s U-20 men’s national team, making three appearances at the 2014 National Training Center Invitational and scoring one goal against Australia.

The newest member of the ‘Caps USL squad is immediately eligible to play with WFC2, starting with this Sunday’s match against Arizona United SC at Langley’s McLeod Athletic Park. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. PT,
