Colwood, B.C. (PGA of BC) – On a breezy Monday at Royal Colwood Golf Club, 84 PGA of BC professionals teed off at the TaylorMade & adidas Golf PGA of BC Championship presented by Axis Insurance Managers Inc.
The course was playing fast and firm, and proved to be tough scoring conditions for the field however, Luke Bogdan of Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford took the early lead shooting a 1-under 69.
“I got off to kind of a shaky start,” Bogdan said post round. “I was hitting it pretty well off the tee, just keeping it in play all day. I played a pretty simple round and didn’t get into a lot of trouble.”
“Royal Colwood is a beautiful golf course. I think it fits my eye because I play out of Ledgeview, so I think I’m used to these very sloped and fast greens.”
Following closely behind Bogdan, just one stroke back, is Clark MacPherson (McCleery Golf Course), Sergej Dronov (Pacific Golf Academy), and Mark Kitts (Quilchena Golf & Country Club). The trio sits at even par 70 heading into tomorrow’s final round.
The 2016 PGA of BC Championship is a 36-hole stroke play competition that will see competitors battle for a $34,295 purse over two days, with a winner’s share of $6,000.
