Prince George, B.C. – Over the past five years, the Prince George Cougars and the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation have teamed up to raise just shy of $300,000 towards healthcare in Northern British Columbia. The numbers are in from the Fifth Annual Prince George Cougars Alumni Hospital Charity Golf Tournament and this summer another $60,286.74 was raised during the two day event that took place on July 15th and 16th, 2015 at the CN Centre and the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.
“Over the course of five years, the Prince George Cougars Alumni Hospital Charity Golf Tournament has evolved into the ‘can’t miss’ golf tournament of the summer,” said Prince George Cougars Alumni Hospital Charity Golf Tournament Chairman, Gary Samis. “The community has really rallied behind this initiative and it means so much to the alumni and the Cougars to be able to return to Prince George and give back. We want to recognize our event sponsors and all of our supporters from Prince George and the surrounding communities who continue to associate their great names with our tournament. It’s because of that generosity that we are able to make these vital contributions towards the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.”
This year, funds raised from the event will be put towards the purchase of Patient Monitors which will aid in providing (CTCA) Computer Tomography Coronary Angiography services for cardiac related monitoring at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia.
“We are so thankful once again to all those who have so graciously supported the tournament,” commented Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North. “Sponsors, donors, players, partners, volunteers, and the Alumni have truly given generously to support greatly needed healthcare equipment for the North once again. We treasure this partnership immensely and are so appreciative of the funds received. Thank you!!”
Over 25 Prince George Cougars alumni members were on hand for the event, including: Dan Hamhuis, Eric Brewer, Nick Drazenovic, Chase Witala, Ian Walterson, Myles Zimmer and Mike Bayrack. The alumni/live auction from Friday, July 15th alone raised over $40,000.
The continued success of this event would also not be possible without the support of our alumni, tournament sponsors, volunteers, staff members and participants. Special thanks to the Northland Auto Group who served as the title sponsor and to the Prince George Golf and Curling Club, Fore Restaurant, Eurest and the CN Centre for being excellent co-hosts for the fifth annual event.
