Mumbai, – Dena Bank employee Shri Raj Kumar Sharma has received the country’s highest honor ‘Dronacharya Award’ for sports coaching at the hands of President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee in Delhi today. Shri Sharma was given the coveted award for his services to game of Cricket by Sports Ministry (GOI).
Dronacharya is conferred on coaches who produce medal winners at prestigious international sports events. The awardees will receive statuettes, certificates and cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh each.
Raj Kumar Sharma currently works at Dena Bank Paschim Vihar Branch and has been with Dena Bank for the past 28 years.
Shri Sharma, a right handed batsman and a right-arm off break bowler had represented Delhi in First Class Cricket (1986-1991) matches. Currently he is the Coach of one of India’s most successful cricketer and India’s test captain Virat Kohli.
Shri Sharma founded West Delhi Cricket Academy in the year 1998 with a mission to produce top-class cricketers. He opened its four branches in Delhi. He is still a senior coach in the academy. Virat Kohli, who was raised in Uttam Nagar, trained at the West Delhi Cricket Academy since its inception in 1998. He has many hard working students with him like Rajesh Sharma, Pradeep malik, Amandeep Jaiswal, Dhruv Singh, Kavi Sharma and many more.
