Victoria inks 2015 WHL Bantam Draft pick

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals are proud to announce the signing of 2000-born goaltender Dean McNabb to a Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreement.


McNabb was selected by the Royals in the 3rd round, 61st overall, at the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.


“Dean is a very good young goaltender with tremendous potential,” Royals’ General Manager Cameron Hope said. “We are very pleased to have him join our organization.”


The 6-2, 174 lb netminder played for the Regina Pat Canadians of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League (SMAAAL) during the 2015-16 season. McNabb appeared in 18 games for Regina and collected an 11-5-0 record to go with a 2.15 Goals Against Average (GAA), 0.904 Save Percentage (SV%) and three shutouts as the Pat Canadians finished as the top team during the SMAAAL regular season.


The product of Davidson, SK spent the 2014-15 campaign with the Notre Dame Bantam AAA team of the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League (SSMHL). Over 17 games, McNabb posted a 7-7-0 mark along with a 3.65 GAA.


Victoria will begin their pre-season schedule this weekend with three games in three days. They begin by traveling to Kamloops to take on the Blazers on Friday at 7:00 p.m., and Kelowna to face the Rockets on Saturday with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Victoria will then head to Everett on Sunday, September 4th to play the Tri-City Americans at 3:00 p.m.
