Cougars Blank Kerry Park By A Five Spot In Pre-Season Action


ESQUIMALT, B.C. – Grayden Hohl scored twice and added an assist to lead the Victoria Cougars to a 5-0 preseason win over the Kerry Park Islanders on Monday.

Also scoring for Victoria were Mattson Haggard, Kyle Wade, and Nick Gomerich.

The Cougars led 2-0 after one period and 4-0 after two.

Anthony Ciurro and Chris Akerman combined for 15 saves in net for Victoria.

In the second period, Cougars’ Kenny Britton dropped the gloves with Ty Berger.  The two exchanged punches in a spirited fight but in the end, the decision went to Britton.

Chase Anderson went the distance for Kerry Park, finishing with 33 saves.

Victoria went 3-for-8 on the power play; meanwhile, the Islanders went 0-for-7.

Next preseason game for Victoria is Thursday, September 1 against the Nanaimo Buccaneers.  Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.
