Second round matches continued on Wednesday at the National International Junior Tennis Open at Parc Larochelle in Repentigny, Quebec. Canadians Félix Auger-Aliassime (Montreal, QC), Bianca Vanessa Andreescu (Toronto, ON), and Benjamin Sigouin (Vancouver, BC) all advanced to the quarter-finals.

Sixteen-year-old Andreescu needed three sets to defeat world no. 40 Malene Helgo of Norway 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. The tournament’s top seed will face Maria Jose Portillo Ramirez of Mexico in Thursday’s final eight.

For his part, Auger-Aliassime followed Andreescu on Centre Court and joined his compatriot in the quarters thanks to a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Khumoyun Sultonov of Uzbekistan. He will next meet Japan’s Toru Hora. Sigouin made it three Canadians in the final eight after defeating American Gianni Ross 6-1, 6-3. His next opponent will be Liam Caruana of Italy.
