Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals are proud to announce the club has signed 2001-born goaltender Brock Gould to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.
A native of Colorado Springs, CO, Gould was drafted by the Royals in the eighth round, 170th overall, at the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.
“Brock is a very promising goaltender who frankly surprised us with his technical skill, poise and athleticism all through camp,” Royals’ General Manager Cameron Hope said. “We are pleased to have Brock and his family join the Royals’ organization and look forward to seeing him continue to develop.”
The 6-3, 155 lb netminder spent last season with the Colorado Thunderbirds of the Colorado Amateur Hockey Association (T1EH14). Gould appeared in six games for the Thunderbirds where he earned a 4-1-0 record to go with a 1.40 goals against average (GAA), 0.935 save percentage (SV%), and two shutouts.
Gould also played for the Thunderbirds at the Rocky Mountain Tier 1 AAA District Championship this past year. Over two games, the native of Colorado Springs, CO recorded a 1.00 GAA, 0.939 SV%, and one shutout as the club finished with a perfect 4-0-0 record.
Victoria will begin their pre-season schedule tonight with three games in three days. They are in Kamloops to take on the Blazers with puck drop at 7:00 p.m. The Royals will then head to Kelowna tomorrow face the Rockets at 7:05 p.m. and will conclude their trip in Everett on Sunday to play the Tri-City Americans at 3:00 p.m. as part of the Silvertips Annual Pre-Season Classic.
