Produced by PGA TOUR Entertainment, PGA TOUR 2016: The Final Act presented by Southern Company will detail how the PGA TOUR Season transpired, from major champions to breakout players, as well as the drama of the FedExCup Playoffs through the first two events. Viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at PGA TOUR stars on and off the course during the FedExCup Playoffs.
The PGA TOUR Season is a journey filled with excitement and drama; the game’s best challenging themselves and each other on their quest to make it to the FedExCup Playoffs with the hopes of becoming FedExCup champion.
PGA TOUR 2016: The Final Act presented by Southern Company Featured Stories:
The Barclays: Focuses on players at the opening event of the FedExCup Playoffs, including 2016 winner Patrick Reed, reigning FedExCup champion Jordan Spieth, Jason Day as defending champion of The Barclays and Olympic gold medalist Justin Rose. While 125 players teed it up at Bethpage Black, only 100 advanced.
Deutsche Bank Championship: Stories from the second FedExCup Playoff event, including Rory McIlroy’s second title in Boston and defending champion Rickie Fowler’s bid to repeat. With the top 100 players descending on TPC Boston for Labor Day weekend there was plenty on the line at the Deutsche Bank Championship, whether battling for playoff positioning or the top spot on the leaderboard.
Jim Furyk: We highlight incredible accomplishments by 2016 Payne Stewart Award recipient Jim Furyk. The 2010 FedExCup Champion missed several months this season after having wrist surgery, but battled back with a TOUR record 58 in the final round of the Travelers Championship, breaking his own record of 59. As the 19th recipient of the Payne Stewart Award, Furyk will be honored in a live broadcast on Golf Channel on Tuesday, September 20 at 7 p.m. The annual award recognizes PGA TOUR players for their charity, character and sportsmanship and is accompanied by a $500,000 charitable donation made possible by Southern Company.
The Final Push to the TOUR Championship: As a prelude to the final round of the BMW Championship, the show looks at what’s at stake at Crooked Stick Golf Club as players try to secure one of the Top 30 spots in the FedExCup standings and punch their ticket to East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
