Grizzlies Undefeated in 7


VICTORIA, B.C.— With over 1000 in attendance for the home opener the Grizzlies defeated Powell River Kings 2-1. The Grizzlies were just 40 seconds from a shutout as they out-shot the Kings 32 to 28. Grizzlies have continued their winning streak to 7 games (6 preseason and 1 regular).

The Grizzlies opened up the scoring at the midpoint of the first period with a power play goal scored by Brett Stirling assisted by Cole Pickup and Nathan Looysen.

There was no scoring in the second. At 12:10 in the third period the Grizzlies put another point on the board increasing their lead to 2. The goal was scored by Justin Michaelian with assists from Nick Guiney and Cody Van Lierop. Late in the third with goalie out of the net and an extra attacker on the ice Powell River finally hit the back of the net with only 40 seconds remaining in the game.

The Grizzlies went 1 for 5 on the Power Play while The Kings were 0 for 3.

Second Night of Home Opener Is Going To Be Fun!

Come and watch Saturday evening as the Grizzlies take on the Port Alberni Bulldogs, Puck Drops at the Q center at 7pm

Tailgate party beginning at 5:30 Eat Machine and fans can try out the inactive hockey net and mini stick rink. Kids bring your own mini stick and give it a try.

Opening Weekend light show and mini Grizzlies playing at the intermission.

Braefoot Community will run activities for the kids before the game and at intermission.
