Giants Fall to Royals in Ladner

Ladner, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants fell 4-1 to the Victoria Royals in WHL Pre-Season action at the Ladner Leisure Centre on Sunday afternoon. Ty Ronning scored Vancouver’s only goal.

The G-Men opened the scoring on a power play in the first minute of the second period when Gage Ramsay touched a Matt Barberis pass to Ronning who fired it past Victoria goalie Dylan Myskiw from the side of the goal. Tyler Soy tied the game for Victoria later in the middle frame, scoring on a two-on-one after being setup by Ryan Gagnon.
Soy setup 16-year-old Eric Florchuk for the eventual game winner on a power play midway through the third period before Jared Dmitriw added an insurance marker and Ethan Price tallied an empty net goal.
The Giants out shot Victoria 29-27. Vancouver was 1-for-6 on the man advantage while Victoria went 1-for-2 on their power play.
Ryan Kubic stopped 23 of 26 Victoria shots in the loss.
The Giants will be back in action on Friday, September 16th, when they visit the Kelowna Rockets. Face-off is slated for 7:05pm.
Vancouver will conclude the pre-season on Saturday, September 17th, against the Royals at the Langley Events Centre. The puck will drop at 3:00pm.
