BRANDON, MB –Westoba Credit Union and the Brandon Wheat Kings have joined forces in the hopes of finding the next Perry Bergson or Branden Crowe and will start looking for the 2016-17 season’s Westoba Wheat Kings Jr. Reporters.
The contest, which starts Monday, September 19th, is open to all Manitoba hockey fans between the ages of five to 12. To enter, Wheat King fans are encouraged to submit a video of their interviewing skills, showing us why they are the next Westoba Wheat Kings Jr. Reporter!
This contest gives young hockey lovers a chance to enter to win some great prizes, and the opportunity to meet and interview players and staff from the WHL club.
Interviews will be featured on KingsVision, westoba.com, wheatkings.com, on the Video Scoreboard at a number of Brandon home games in 2016-17 as well as all over social media!
“Our turnout for the contest last year was incredible,” says Jim Rediger, Chief Executive Officer of WCU. “This contest gives kids an opportunity to get involved, talk about something they’re passionate about and meet some of their hometown hockey heroes. I am looking forward to seeing the contest videos this year and meeting our new reporters.”
Contest deadline is Monday, October 17th, 2016. Fans are encouraged to visitwestoba.com for more information on the contest, to submit their unique and creative videos and to watch all submissions.
Two winners will be announced on Tuesday, November 8th, 2016 and will make their 2016-17 season debuts early in the season.
“This is one of the most exciting programs that we have been involved in over the last few years,” says Rick Dillabough, Wheat Kings’ Director of Business Operations and Sponsorship. “Last year’s contestants showed us the talent we have in westman and we’re in for another great year. What an exciting opportunity for western Manitoba’s young sportscasters and sportswriters.”
