VICTORIA, B.C.— The Victoria Grizzlies will honour Sooke hockey player Carter Navarrete this Friday evening at 7:00pm at their game vs the Surrey Eagles.
Carter Navarrete’s parents and siblings will drop the puck and his teammates will take part in a presentation to honour Carter.
Carter’s tragic death has affected many people around the community including the Victoria Grizzlies Head Coach and GM Craig Didmon who coached Carter when he played for Sooke Minor Hockey. Didmon also played hockey with Carter’s father in Midget.
“I remember Carter especially in the big games, the big moments, when we needed that edge. He was fast and skilled and played hard and thanks to him we had many great nights.” recalls Didmon “I am really going to miss him”
Minor Hockey players will be able to get into the game at a discounted rate of $5. As well, donations will be accepted plus proceeds from the 50/50 will go to Carter’s favourite charity, SPCA Paws for a Cause.
