Prince Albert, SK – Two Prince Albert Raiders veterans are sticking around at NHL camps for a little while longer.

Winger Reid Gardiner and goaltender Rylan Parenteau were invited to Main Camp for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks, respectfully.

This is the third consecutive year Gardiner has attended an NHL camp. He previously was invited by the Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks. During the summer, the undrafted forward took part in the Penguins’ development camp. Last season, Gardiner led the Raiders with 43 goals and 49 assists in 71 games.

Parenteau returned to the Canucks for the 2016 Young Stars Classic in Penticton, BC after attending their development camp in the summer. This is the first NHL experience for the goaltender out of Saskatoon. Parenteau finished last year with a 25-17-5-1 record, including three shutouts and a 2.82 goals-against average. His performance earned him second-team All-Star honours in the Eastern Conference.

The Raiders start the regular season on the road in Regina against the Pats on Friday night. They return to the Art Hauser Centre for the 2016-17 Home Opener on Saturday night. Festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. with a barbecue hosted by the Prince Albert Youth Travel Club. Puck drop is at 7 p.m., but be sure to arrive early for player introductions.
