new partnership with Shaw’s Community Access network, Shaw TV, will give more exposure to Curl BC athletes and our sponsors and partners.
The partnership will see Shaw broadcasting the final four games of the 2017 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship in Abbotsford, and the final four games of the 2017 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship in Duncan.
This will mean a total of eight games being televised, more than any previous season.
Shaw will broadcast the games on its 42 community TV stations across Western Canada. The events will also be broadcast on Shaw Direct satellite coast to coast and promoted in advance to Shaw customers on 19 specialty channels.
The 2017 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship, presented by Best Western, will be hosted at the Glen Harper Curling Centre, home of the Duncan Curling Club, from January 18-22, 2017. The televised games will be broadcast on January 21 and 22.
The 2017 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship will be hosted at Abbotsford Curling Club from February 8-12, 2017. The televised games will be broadcast on February 11 and 12.
Scott Braley, Curl BC CEO, said: “We are excited to be working with Shaw TV, and look forward to the increased exposure this new partnership will bring.”
This marks a return to broadcasting Curl BC events on Shaw TV. Championships were broadcast on Shaw TV from 2007 until 2013. In 2014, 2015 and 2016, shows were broadcast on Sportsnet.
Braley added: “We are proud that this will be the tenth season that Curl BC championship events will be featured on TV. Thanks to the hard work of our staff and our host committees, our televised men’s and women’s events have become streamlined, professionally run sports events.”
