Kamloops, BC—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s volleyball team makes their 2016-17 debut on Friday (Sept 23).
The WolfPack—as part of their annual senior girl’s high school tournament—will be playing an exhibition match at 6 pm against the University of British Columbia Okangan Heat. The match will be played on the Warner Rentals court at the Tournament Capital Centre.
“We are fortunate that UBCO is so close to us and we are looking forward to showcasing the sport of CIS volleyball,” says WolfPack head coach Chad Grimm, whose team has already played a number of exhibition matches in the Lower Mainland, Oregon and most recently Edmonton, Alberta.
“UBCO is a great team who won a bronze medal at CIS Nationals last year,” explains Grimm. “Steve (head coach Manuel) runs a great program. We will be playing more of a set line up in this match as well in contrast to what we have been doing up until this point in time.”
Grimm has teams from throughout the Interior and some from the Vancouver area coming to his tournament, which runs Friday and Saturday (Sept 24-25).
After the exhibition match, TRU has one final preseason tournament: October 14-16 at the West Coast Classic in Langley.
The WolfPack’s home opener is Friday October 28th when they entertain the University of Alberta Pandas at the TCC. Game time is 6 pm.
