Saanich Fusion Football Club (SFFC) division one men fall 2-0 to Vic West FC.
Parmbeer Singh Johal opened the scoring for Vic West FC late in the first half off an offensive SFFC mistake.
Vic West FC took advantage of the SFFC offensive mistake and broke down the right side, crossed the ball and Singh Johal was able to put the ball in the back of the net.
SFFC had been able to stifle the Vic West FC attack for most of the first half and were getting opportunities on the counter.
The clearest SFFC goal scoring opportunity came early in the first half with the lone forward, Nick Takeda, pressuring the defender. The Vic West defender attempted to clear the ball, but Takeda got his foot in the way causing the ball to go high up in the air and forcing the Vic West goalie to make a tough save.
SFFC’s game plan was working, but once Vic West FC scored the opening goal SFFC was forced to chase for the tying goal.
Bryan Taylor scored Vic West’s second from the penalty spot with about 20 minutes left in the game.
SFFC head coach, Ian Bush, said, “it was a disappointing result for a good performance.”
Bush added, “I think there is some area for growth in the team and we will certainly be looking at our transition game.”
SFFC host Division 1 league leaders, Bays United FC, on Friday, October 7 at Tyndall Park, kick off 8 p.m.
