Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals were topped 5-2 by the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday night.
Kamloops’ Deven Sideroff tallied the game winner mid-way through the second period. The Royals’ Blake Bargar scored his first goal in a Victoria uniform early in the middle frame, while Tyler Soy registered a goal of his own in the first stanza.
Victoria netminder Griffen Outhouse stopped 24 of the 29 pucks directed his way. Blazers’ goaltender Connor Ingram made 21 saves on 23 shots.
The Royals maintained their perfect penalty kill as they killed off both of Kamloops’ powerplays. The Blazers’ penalty kill was also strong and went 6/6=100.0%.
Victoria was without defenceman Chaz Reddekopp who was still attending the Los Angeles Kings’ Main Training Camp.
The Royals will now head on a season long six-game road trip that begins on Wednesday, October 5th against the Vancouver Giants. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Victoria returns home on Tuesday, October 18th to take on the Saskatoon Blades at 7:05 p.m. at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
