Kite surfing is one of the most unique sports around, even in the action sports community.

Some of the islands most athletic men and women can be found not in stadiums full of people, but flying along the coast of Dallas Road in James Bay. The combination of controlling the board with your legs and managing the kite with your upper body makes this sport incredibly physically demanding. However, that isn’t what makes Kite surfing unique. Most outdoor sports rely on good weather, and might even cancel due to rain. With kite surfing it is the exact opposite, these athletes seek out the worst weather Vancouver Island has to offer. Dark skies and blistering winds make for a good day for these riders.

Despite the violent wind and cold water, these athletes love every minute of it. In fact, they wouldn’t have it any other way.
