Cougars Come Back to Beat Giants

Ryan Kubic #20 of the Vancouver Giants watches the play

Prince George, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but lost 5-2 to the Prince George Cougars on Friday night at the CN Centre in Prince George. Thomas Foster and Jack Flaman scored for Vancouver.

Foster opened the scoring for Vancouver inside the first minute of the game when he tipped a Ty Ronning shot past Cougars goalie Ty Edmonds from the slot. Flaman made it 2-0 for Vancouver before the three-minute mark, netting his fourth of the season from the right circle. The G-Men held the lead until after the midway mark of the opening period when Kody McDonald scored a power play goal on the rebound of a Jesse Gabrielle shot. Gabrielle added his first of the season on another man advantage less than two minutes later and put the Cougars ahead with a shorthanded goal before the end of the period.
Owen Hardy had a good opportunity to tie the game for the Giants in the second period after Johnny Wesley set him up, but Edmonds made a nice poke-check save to keep the Cougars ahead.
Josh Curtis and Yan Khomenko added third period goals for Prince George.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday night. Puck drop is slated for 7:00pm.
Vancouver’s next home game is on Wednesday, October 19th, when the G-Men welcome the Saskatoon Blades to the LEC.
