Curl BC travel subsidies to become $135,000 in prizes

Curl BC is restructuring the way it allocates subsidies to teams competing in BC championships.

There will be no more travel subsidies, with participants instead competing for $135,000 in prize packages.

A total of $26,000 in cash prizes will be available for curlers who finish on the podium. A further $20,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the remaining teams.

First place finishers will also receive up to $750 in clothing from Curl BC and team travel subsidies from Curling Canada. Altogether, Curl BC’s 13 BC Championship teams will be given $89,600 in cash and contra.

As always, teams will be encouraged to use Best Western hotels to support an important sponsor of curling.

The change is in effect for the 2016-17 season.
