Enduring travel delays and stormy weather on Friday, the Mount Douglas Rams Football Program showed a lot of perseverance in recording another double win. The JV Rams defeated Notre Dame in the opening game 28 to 12, while the Varsity Rams registered a 28 to 14 victory over Notre Dame in the 2nd contest .
The Varsity Rams used a stellar defensive effort and a strong offensive ground game en route to the victory. Gideone Kremler accounted for 3 rushing touchdowns and 196 yards on the ground for the offense. Ben Pierik also hit the century mark with 118 yards rushing of his own. Josh Lucas scored the opening major for the Rams.
On the defensive side, Isaiah Cardilicchia led the team in tackles with 7 plus added an interception. Jake Ounsted had a monster game along the defensive line with 6 tackles, followed by Tyrese Hogue, Spencer Meldrum and Soren Hallschmid with 4 tackles each. Quinn Jenish had an interception and Ben Pierik had a fumble recovery, as the Rams defense forced 3 turnovers.
On Special Teams, Phil Grohovac continued his strong play connecting on both his convert kicks.
Both the JV and Varsity Rams now turn their focus to one of the top programs in the Province, New West. The JV Rams play Friday October 21 at 2:00 pm at Mercer Stadium (in New West), followed by the Varsity game at 4:45 pm…practice schedule and travel for the Varsity team follows the scoring summary below.
