Panorama Recreation Center this week is playing host to the 4th Victoria International Junior ITF World Ranking event which features 85 juniors in boys and girls U18 youth tennis action this week.
Tuesday featured 16 singles matches in boys singles play. When the dust settled 7 out of 8 seeds remained. The Upset of the Day was Canadian Justin Boulais, son of Patricia Hy-Boulais former top Canadian women’s and #28 world ranked player who defeated Austin Johnson 7-5, 6-3 in first round action.
Number one seed Stefan Palosi of Romania defeated Oscar Yang of Canada 6-3, 6-1. Two local Victorians won their first round. Jovan Sihota defeated Phillipe Laroche in a long two setter 7-6, 6-3.
Also Aaron Diemer, the eighth seed from Brentwood Bay was victorious over Thomas Sorensen 6-2, 6-1.
On Wednesday both girls and boys Round of 16 singles action will be on the docket followed by quarterfinal doubles action.
Viewing is only from the tennis viewing area tomorrow. On Thursday, there will be on court seating for both boy’s and girl’s quarterfinal singles play.
