Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals topped the Saskatoon Blades 9-3 as the club tied and set five team and individual franchise records on a night led by Ryan Peckford’s six-point performance.
Peckford tallied one goal and five assists on the evening, which included four points (1g-3a) in the first period. Previously five players had scored five points in a game. The last player to reach the five-point plateau for Victoria was Brandon Magee during the 2014-15 season.
The nine goals scored by the Royals on the night tied a franchise record. This had occurred once before during the 2009-10 season versus the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Victoria’s lone multi-goal scorer on Tuesday evening was Regan Nagy who registered two markers. The other Royals’ goal scorers were Kaid Oliver, the first of his WHL career, Scott Walford, Dante Hannoun, Chaz Reddekopp, Blake Bargar and Jack Walker.
Peckford also tied a trio of franchise records as he matched the mark for most points in a single period with four, tied the record for most assists in a game with five and tallied three assists to tie the record for most helpers in a frame. Matthew Phillips also tied this record with three assists of his own in the first period.
Saskatoon’s goal scorers were Chase Wouters, Braylon Shmyr and Kolten Olynek.
Victoria struck three times on the powerplay and went 3/6=50.0%, while Saskatoon held a mark of 1/4=25.0%.
Royals’ goaltender Griffen Outhouse turned aside 20 of the 23 shots fired at him. Blades’ netminder Brock Hamm stopped 26 of the 35 shots he faced.
Victoria will continue their three-game homestand with a match-up against the Swift Current Broncos on Friday, October 21st for Country Night, and the Everett Silvertips on Saturday, October 22nd on Marty the Marmot’s birthday. Puck drop for all three contests are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
