Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Brandon Wheat Kings defenceman Kale Clague has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 23, 2016.

Clague registered six points (1G-5A) in his first two games of the season over the weekend to help pace the Wheat Kings to a pair of resounding wins.

On Friday, October 21 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Clague was named the game’s first star with a goal and two assists to go along with a plus-three rating as Brandon picked up a 6-1 win. Clague’s goal in the triumph also came while shorthanded. The following night, Clague added three assists as the Wheaties pounced on the Spokane Chiefs by a 6-0 score. Named the game’s third star, Clague collected his three assists on even strength, power play and shorthanded goals.

The 6-foot, 177-pound defenceman was recently named to Team WHL in advance of the 2016 CIBC Canada Russia Series which begins November 7 in Prince George, BC. The following night, Clague will be a little closer to home as the Lloydminster, AB product competes in the second game of the series at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

Clague was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round, 51st overall, of the 2016 NHL Draft and has amassed 62 points (11g-51a) in 95 career WHL regular season games. The 1998-born defenceman has also already competed in 36 WHL Playoff games with 17 points (7G-10A) and a WHL Championship to show for his efforts.
