Despite losing 4-3 to the Trail Smoke Eaters in the finale of a three-games-in-three-nights road trip, the Grizzlies are in great position in the BCHL’s Island Division after winning four of five contests to close out October.

Strong performers over that stretch include team scoring leader Cole Pickup, whose 12-game point streak was snapped against the Smoke Eaters. Tyler Welsh has been excellent since committing to play for the Yale Bulldogs next season, collecting three multi-point games in his last six.

Saturday’s win was significant for two reasons: first, newly acquired goaltender Tony Rehm emerged victorious in his Grizzlies debut, stopping 21 shots for the win. In addition, coach Craid Didmon earned his 70th career win as a coach in the BCHL. Congrats coach!

Despite the loss on Sunday, the Grizzlies sit in second place in the Island Division, just one point back of Powell River with two games in hand.

The Grizzlies return home on Friday, November 4th when Alberni Valley returns to the Q Centre in Victoria for the second time this season. The Vernon Vipers visit the Grizzlies the following night, November 5th. Puck drop both nights is 7:00pm.
