MILL BAY, B.C. – The Victoria Cougars defeated the Kerry Park Islanders 4-1 in front of 125 at the Kerry Park Recreation Centre on Saturday night.

With the win, Victoria won its third straight game and moved to within three points of the Saanich Braves for top spot in the South Island Division.

The Cougars do have one game in hand.

Tyler Vanuden scored twice and Anthony Ciurro stopped 29 shots as Victoria improved to 11-4-0-3.

Also finding the back of the net were Akila Sato-Gaudreau and Kaelen Anderson.

The Cougars capitalized once on four power play opportunities while Kerry Park was shutout on all four of its chances.

Replying for Kerry Park, who dropped to 7-9-0-1, was Kayden Peck with his fourth goal of the season.

Rett Rook made 31 saves.

The score was tied 1-1 after the first period before Victoria went up 2-1 through 40 minutes.

Next game for the Cougars is Sunday, November 6 versus the Westshore Wolves.  Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 3:30 p.m.
