NORTH SAANICH, B.C. – Tyler Vanuden had three goals and an assist, Justin Anderson stopped 22 shots, and the Victoria Cougars got back on the winning track following a 7-2 thumping of the Peninsula Panthers on Friday night.

Also scoring for Victoria, who leapfrogged into sole possession of first place in the South Island Division, were Nick Gomerich, Hunter Gruben, Owen Dalman, and James Scott.

The Cougars led 3-0 after one period and 5-0 after two.

Marshall Brown and Holden Cochrane replied for Peninsula.  Fresh off a 39 save shutout the night prior, Shawn Parkinson allowed seven goals on 41 shots.

Victoria finished 2-for-7 on the power play; meanwhile, the Panthers went 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the VIJHL:  Campbell River Storm 7, Saanich Braves 3.  Nanaimo Buccaneers 5, Comox Valley Glacier Kings 3.
