Cody Glass’ Hat Trick Leads Hawks to 9-2 Victory Over Calgary Saturday

Cody Glass had a hat trick as the Portland Winterhawks (9-12-0-0) earned an impressive 9-2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen (7-6-2-0) at the Moda Center Saturday in front of 8,711 fans.

 

The hat trick was the first of his career and gave him ten goals on the season. Glass posted five points tonight giving him 30 points so far in his second full season with the Winterhawks, with this hat trick eclipsing his career-high of 27 points last season. Tonight was also Glass’ tenth multi-point outing this season.

 

After assisting on all three of Glass’ goals and contributing a goal of his own, Skyler McKenzie finished the night with four points and a +4 rating. Caleb Jones also finished with a goal and three assists for four points, and Joachim Blichfeld finished with a goal and two assists. Seven different Hawks found the back of the net in the 9-2 victory.

–       2nd @ 14:51 – (SH) Just 19 seconds later, Brendan De Jong (Veloso, Jones) nets a shorthanded goal on the same penalty kill to make it 7-1. (CGY 1 – POR 7)

–       2nd @ 17:50 – Evan Weinger (Colina, Jones) deflects the puck in to extend the lead to 8-1. (CGY 1 – POR 8)

–       3rd @ 2:57 – Joachim Blichfeld (Texeira) adds a Portland goal as the Hawks take a 9-1 lead.

–       3rd @ 3:22 – Calgary’s Mark Kastelic (Murray, Fyten) scores to cut it to 9-2, which would stand as the final as the Hawks win it 9-2. (CGY 2 – POR 9)
