Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals were bested by the Tri-City Americans 5-1 on Saturday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
The Americans’ Parker AuCoin recorded the game winner mid-way through the middle frame. Tri-City’s other markers were scored by Vladislav Lukin, Morgan Geekie, Michael Rasmussen, and Kurtis Rutledge.
Victoria’s Matthew Phillips, who appeared in his 93rd career regular season game, tallied his team-leading 12th marker of the season late in the first stanza. With the goal, Phillips became the fastest Royal, and second quickest player in franchise history, to reach 50 goals. The tally also marked his 100th career WHL point.
Royals’ goaltender Dylan Myskiw stopped 21 of the 26 pucks fired his way, while Americans’ netminder Evan Sarthou turned aside 24 of the 25 shots directed at him.
Victoria went 1/6=16.7% on the man-advantage. Tri-City held a mark of 2/4=50.0% on the night.
