Patrick Dea

The Western Hockey League announced today that Edmonton Oil Kings goaltender Patrick Dea has been named the WHL Goaltender of the Week and the league nominee for Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending November 13, 2016.

Dea, a 19-year-old product of St. Albert, AB, went 2-0-0-0 this past week, including a 27-save shutout in a 3-0 win versus the Kootenay ICE on Saturday, November 12, in which he earned third-star honours. Dea opened the week with a 34-save performance on Thursday, November 10, to backstop his team to a 4-2 home-ice win against the Saskatoon Blades.

Over the two contests, Dea notched a 1.00 goals-against average and .968 save percentage.

The 5-foot-11, 157-pound Dea is eligible for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. In 12 appearances this season, Dea has accumulated a record of 7-5-0-0 with a 3.24 GAA, .897 SV% and one shutout.

Dea, who was a first round pick (22nd) of the Edmonton Oil Kings at the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft, is in his third WHL campaign, having compiled a record of 36-29-4-1, 2.94 GAA, .898 SV% and two shutouts in 80 career WHL regular season appearances.
