Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals will host the Regina Pats, the top ranked team in the CHL, on Saturday and BC Division rivals the Kelowna Rockets on Sunday. Saturday’s contest is Canadian Forces Appreciation Night.


SUPER SOY: With his goal against Prince Albert on Tuesday, forward Tyler Soy moved one marker away from setting a new team record. Soy tied alumnus Brandon Magee for the most goals in Royals’ history at 101 markers. Soy accomplished this feat in 233 games, while Magee reached the milestone in 252 contests. The franchise record for most career goals is currently held by former Chilliwack Bruin Ryan Howse who recorded 140 goals in 262 games.


SPECIAL TEAMS MATCH-UP: Saturday’s contest will be against two of the top special team units in the WHL. The Royals currently boast the top penalty kill rank in the league when playing on home ice with a 44/51=86.3% mark. The Pats meanwhile, hold the second-best road powerplay in the WHL with a 9/26=34.6% rating.




Victoria will wear their special commemorative military jerseys in honour of the Canadian Forces and Veterans.




–          The first 2,500 fans will receive a Royals’ dog tags upon entrance at Gate 1 courtesy of Mike Chubey, Victoria’s Real Estate Resource. Royals’ Ticket Pack Holders including Season Tickets, Half-Season Tickets and the Five Game Fan Pack, will have first access to the dog tags from 6:00-6:30 p.m.


–          The Naden Band of the Royals Canadian Navy will be performing O Canada, while personnel from the Canadian Forces will present for a ceremonial puck drop.


–          Military vehicles and equipment will be on display around the concourse at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre throughout the game.

Proceeds will support The Poppy Fund, the Military Family Resource Centre and Victoria Royals Education & Scholarship Fund.
