Edmonton, AB—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack mens basketball team came close but not close enough as they opened up a Canada West weekend in Edmonton against the unbeaten Golden Bears.  The Bears took the WolfPack 82-79 Friday night (Nov 18) at the Saville Centre.


The WolfPack trailed  34-31 at the half but outscored Alberta 28-22 in the fourth quarter.  Luke Morris (4th year, forward, Mission, BC) led the way with 20 points and seven rebounds .  Ivan Ikomey was the top scorer for Alberta with 25 points and three rebounds.



Luke Morris: 20 points, 7 rebounds (4 on defense), 3 assists, 1 steal  34 minutes

Joe Davis: 18 points, 5 rebounds (4 on defense) 31 minutes

Volodymyr Iegorov: 14 points, 13 rebounds (10 on defense), 38 minutes

Derek Rhodes: 12 points  32 minutes



Ivan Ikomey:  25 points, 5 rebounds (4 on defense), 1 steal, 24 minutes

Mamadou Gueye: 19 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds (2 on defense) 1 steal, 26 minutes

Brody Clarke: 13 points, 4 rebounds (all on defense) , 2 blocks, 24 minutes.

The  WolfPack  and Golden Bears will wind up their weekend series Saturday (Nov 19). Next weekend, Thompson Rivers will head back home.  Their next home game will be Friday, November 25th on the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre. It will be their last home stand before the Christmas break.
