The Prince George Spruce Kings would like to announce the commitment of 2000 born Ryan Stack of the Burnaby Winter Club (BWC) for the 2017/18 season.
Last season with the BWC Elite 15’s, Stack led the team in scoring with 24 goals and 24 assists for 48 points in 51 games. This year with the Prep team, Stack has 10 goals and 10 assists in 15 games while leading the squad with four power play goals.
The West Vancouver product was up in Prince George this past weekend, and played in both games where the Spruce Kings won 6-1 over the Nanaimo Clippers, and 6-3 against the Surrey Eagles. “I was a little nervous getting into the games. The first shift I hopped over the boards and just felt a rush of emotion, but I tried to take it one shift at a time. I had a great time playing, and got to play on a pretty great line [with Ben Brar and Ben Poisson]. It definitely makes it easier having guys I know going up there, and talking to them. They all love the team and they’ve had a great season which made the decision really easy for me” said Stack.
“Ryan is a terrific young man and a very good player. He understands the game well and makes good plays and decisions with and without the puck. He comes from the BWC Academy Program that we have had a lot of luck recruiting from. Their program is outstanding and the players that come out of that program have been well coached and are prepared to make the jump to our league. Ryan will be an exciting player for our team for several seasons,” said Prince George Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes.
Spruce Kings Associate Coach Adam Maglio had this to say about the team’s newest recruit. “We are excited to commit Ryan Stack for next season. It was evident this past weekend playing with us, that Ryan’s commitment to the game through his work ethic and character has allowed him to develop into an elite player for his age. We look forward to working with Ryan next year, and believe he will be an immediate contributor to the Spruce Kings.”
