The Portland Winterhawks have announced the signing of forward Jaydon Dureau.
Dureau, in his 15-year-old season, was the Hawks’ eighth round pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. He played last season for the Notre Dame Hounds Bantam AAA in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League. Dureau recorded 12 goals and 37 points in the regular season for Notre Dame, and followed it up with a strong playoff performance by notching four goals and seven points in his team’s six playoff games.
This season Dureau is playing for the Saskatoon Blazers of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League. He’s leading his team with six goals and 10 points through 13 games played. He also represented Team Saskatchewan in the 2016 U16 Challenge Cup, picking up two goals in the tournament including the overtime winner to qualify Team Saskatchewan for medal play.
“Jaydon impressed us in training camp with his combination of speed and an ability to finish scoring chances,” said Portland Winterhawks Vice President, General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston. “He’s translated that into a strong start this season and we look forward to having him join us in the coming years.”
