Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Moose Jaw Warriors forward Jayden Halbgewachs has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 27, 2016.
Halbgewachs registered nine points (6G-3A) in three games to help the Moose Jaw Warriors go 2-1-0-0 this past week.
On Tuesday, November 22, Halbgewachs registered two goals to be named second star in a 6-3 loss versus the Medicine Hat Tigers. The 19-year-old product of Emerald Park, SK, followed up with another two-goal performance, including the game-winning marker, in a 5-4 road win over the Calgary Hitmen on Friday, November 25, earning first star recognition. Finally, Halbgewachs put an exclamation point on his solid week with two goals and two assists in a 5-2 road win over the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday, November 26.
Halbgewachs is currently tied for fourth in WHL goal scoring with 19 goals and also sits in a tie for ninth in WHL scoring with 32 points (19G-13A) through 24 games.
The 5-foot-8, 160-pound centre was a first round pick (19th) of the Kamloops Blazers at the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft but was dealt to the Warriors in December 2012. In 157 career WHL regular season games, all with the Warriors, Halbgewachs has collected 82 points (38G-44A). He is eligible for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
