Prince George, BC- The Victoria Royals were downed 4-2 by the Prince George Cougars at the CN Centre on Friday night.
The Cougars’ Jesse Gabrielle completed the hat-trick in the third period, while Colby McAuley tallied the game-winner late in the middle frame. Victoria’s Matthew Phillips scored his team-leading 20th goal of the campaign in the first period. Regan Nagy recorded one of his own in the second stanza.
Royals’ goaltender Griffen Outhouse got the nod in net as he stopped 26 of the 30 shots fired at him. Cougars’ netminder Ty Edmonds turned aside 25 of the 27 pucks he faced.
Both teams were perfect on the penalty kill. Victoria went 6/6=100.0%, while Prince George held a mark of 9/9=100.0%.
The Royals are back in action tomorrow night to face the Cougars with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Victoria will head south of the border for match-ups against the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday, December 7th, the Portland Winterhawks on Friday, December 9th and the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, December 10th. Puck drop versus the Chiefs and Americans contests are slated for 7:05 p.m., while the match-up against the Winterhawks is set for 7:00 p.m.
Victoria returns to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Tuesday, December 13th to face the Portland Winterhawks. Puck drop is slated for 7:05 p.m.
