Hawks Drop a 3-2 Decision to Kootenay Saturday

The Portland Winterhawks (15-13-1-0) dropped a 3-2 decision to the Kootenay ICE (6-17-6-1) at Veterans Memorial Coliseum Saturday.

 

Winterhawks captain Keegan Iverson scored the team’s first goal today for his 11th goal of the season. Iverson has continued to spark offense this year with 34 points in 27 games, and is on pace to surpass his career-high of 42 points set in 2013-14.

 

Defenseman Caleb Jones also contributed two assists for the Winterhawks today, bringing his season total to 24 points in 27 games.

–       1st @ 13:32 – Dallas Hines (Alfaro, Fleury) scores a power play goal for a 2-0 Kootenay lead. (KTN 2 – POR 0)

–       2nd @ 8:08 – Zak Zborosky (Alfaro) extends the Kootenay lead to 3-0. (KTN 3 – POR 0)

–       2nd @ 16:09 – (PP) Winterhawks captain Keegan Iverson (Jones, Blichfeld) pops the puck in the net beyond the pad of Kootenay netminder Payton Lee to cut the deficit to 3-1 with a power play goal. (KTN 3 – POR 1)

–       3rd @ 16:05 – (PP) Henri Jokiharju (Jones) beats Lee with a long snipe to bring it within one goal, but it wouldn’t be enough as the ICE skate away with the 3-2 win. (KTN 3 – POR 2)
