The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Tri-City Americans 3-2 in overtime on Friday night at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Washington.

This match-up was another defensive battle. The game was 1-0 Rockets after the first period with a goal by Nolan Foote on the power play.

The Rockets got a second period goal from Calvin Thurkauf who now has four goals in the last two games. The Americans managed to score twice in the second and the teams were knotted at 2-2 going into the third.

The Rockets severely outshot the Americans 15-1 in the final frame but the score remained 2-2 at the end of regulation.

Just over three minutes into the extra frame the Rockets leading scorer Kole Lind ended the Americans hopes and propelled the Rockets to their third straight victory.

Michael Herringer stopped 19 of 21 shots he faced and the Rockets outshot Tri-City 45-21. He improved to 15-8-1-0 on the year.

The Rockets improve to 18-11-1-0 on the season.

The Americans fall to 18-11-3-0 on the season.

The Rockets are right back in action tomorrow night in Cranbrook to take on the Kootenay Ice. They then head to Lethbridge to end off their three game weekend on Sunday.

The Rockets next home game is December 27th when they host the Kamloops Blazers.
