Tough Road Trip Continues For Royals

Kennewick, WA- The Victoria Royals were downed 4-3 by the Tri-City Americans on Saturday night at the Toyota Center in a game that was highlighted by a heated first period.

 

The opening stanza saw 46 of the game’s 50 total penalty minutes, as tempers flared on multiple occasions.

 

Americans’ Captain Tyler Sandhu registered a four-point night (2g-2a) and Morgan Geekie recorded a pair of markers that included the game winner. Victoria’s Matthew Phillips extended his point-scoring streak to six games when he converted on a penalty shot in the first period. The Royals’ Regan Nagy scored in his third consecutive contest, while Jack Walker stretched his point-streak to four games with a goal and an assist.

 

During his six-game streak, Phillips has tallied 12 points (7g-5a), while Walker has recorded six points (1g-5a) in his last four contests. With an assist on Walker’s goal, Chaz Reddekopp extended his point-streak to four contests where he has tallied one goal and three assists.

 

Royals’ netminder Griffen Outhouse got the nod in net and made 30 saves on the 34 pucks fired at him. Americans’ goaltender Rylan Parenteau turned aside 29 of the 32 shots directed his way.

 

Victoria’s powerplay went 0/4=0.0%, while Tri-City’s held a mark of 3/5=60.0%.

 

The Royals return to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Tuesday, December 13th and Wednesday, December 14th to face the Portland Winterhawks. Puck drop for both contests are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
