Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Kamloops Blazers goaltender Dylan Ferguson has been named the WHL Goaltender of the Week and the league nominee for Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Weekfor the week ending December 11, 2016.
Ferguson, a product of Lantzville, BC, went 1-0-0-1 this past week, with a 1.92 goals-against average and .945 save percentage. He opened the weekend with a 36-save performance on Saturday, December 10 in a 3-2 road win over the Edmonton Oil Kings. Ferguson concluded the weekend with 33 saves on Sunday, December 11, in a 3-2 shootout loss at Calgary and was named the second star of the game.
The 6-foot-2, 193-pound goaltender was originally selected by the Kamloops Blazers in the eighth round (166th) of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. In his second season with the Blazers, Ferguson is 4-3-0-1 with a 3.36 GAA and .902 SV%. Over 25 career WHL regular season appearances, he is 8-13-0-1 with a 3.85 GAA, .885 SV% and one shutout.
This is the second consecutive week a Blazers goaltender has earned weekly honours, with Connor Ingram being recognized as both WHL Goaltender of the Week and Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 4, 2016.
Ferguson is eligible for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
