On Wednesday, December 7, Thurkauf registered his first career hat trick in a resounding 6-1 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds, being named first star in the process. The 19-year-old product of Zug, Switzerland, followed up with one goal in a 3-2 overtime win at Tri-City on Friday, December 9, earning second star recognition. On Saturday, December 10, Thurkauf collected two goals and two assists in a 7-3 road win over the Kootenay ICE and was named first star.
