Second Year In A Row Merkley Cut From Jr Team

The Kelowna Rockets forward Nick Merkley has been released from the Canadian World Junior team selection camp.
Merkley was among four players released following Tuesday nights game against the Usports All-Stars.
This is the second year Merkley has been released from the Canadian squad.
Merkley’s release is bitter-sweet news for the Rockets as he will rejoin the team for the Friday night game against the Red Deer Rebels.

Merkley was the 30th overall pick of the 2015 NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes and has 21 points in 24 games with the Rockets this season.
Brett Howden, Victor Mete and Austin Wagner were also let go from the team on Tuesday night.
The Rockets face the Medicine Hat Tigers tonight in Medicine Hat before heading North to meet up with Merkley to face the Rebels on Friday.
The Rockets next home game is Decemeber 27th when they host the Kamloops Blazers at Prospera Place.
