Two more Rockets have been named to the final rosters of their respective countries.
Calvin Thurkauf was named to team Switzerland and Tomas Soustal was named to team Czech Republic.
Both players will represent their countries in the upcoming World Junior Championships.
The two being selected to their final rosters comes with little surprise as both players competed in the tournament for their teams last season as well.
The Tournament begins on December 26th. Soustal and the Czech Republic take on team Finland for the third game of the evening. That game begins at 2pm PT on TSN.
Thurkauf and the Swiss don’t play until the following day, December 27th, when they take on Soustal and the Czech’s at 10am PT.
So far this season both players have had a solid first half. Both are tied for second on the Rockets in points. Thurkauf left the team to compete in the tournament as the WHL’s player of the week after he had 10 points (8G, 2A) in his final four games before his departure. He now has 17 goals and 14 assists for 31 points in 28 games this season so far. Soustal has been consistent all season, showing great chemistry with current Rockets point leader Kole Lind many times throughout the year. He has produced 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points in 32 games this season.
The Rockets will be missing Thurkauf and Soustal, along with Dillon Dube (Team Canada) for their final three games before Christmas as they complete a seven game road trip, ending in central Alberta.
Soustal, Thurkauf, and Dube will also be away at the tournament during the Rockets next home game which is December 27th when they host the Kamloops Blazers.
