COLWOOD, B.C. – Kenny Britton scored twice which included the game winning goal as the Victoria Cougars edged the Westshore Wolves 3-1 at The Q Centre on Wednesday night.

With the win, Victoria extended its unbeaten streak to four games.

The Cougars went ahead 2-1 when Britton took a tip pass from Jordan Passmore at centre ice and beat Jordan Spandli on a breakaway at the 1:52 mark of the second period.

Nick Gomerich also scored for Victoria who moved eight points up on the idle Saanich Braves for top spot in the South Island Division.

Saanich does have two games in hand.

Anthony Ciurro, who was nothing short of sensational, made 36 saves which included turning aside all 17 shots fired his way in the third period.

Westshore opened the scoring 6:12 into the game on a goal from Jake Calnan.  For Calnan, it was only his third goal of the season.

Spandli made 29 saves but his equally sensational performance could not stop the Wolves from dropping their first game since starting a six game winning streak two and a half weeks ago.

The Cougars went 1-for-5 with the man advantage and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Next game for Victoria is Thursday, December 15 versus the Kerry Park Islanders.  Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.
